A flash in the (Cooking) Pan

Have recently discivered a new hobby - Cooking.

Our cook gave us the slip as soon as her informed her about her salary-cut. Well, it was expected, given her haute lifestyle - She owns a Scooty, carries a mobile (used only for missed calls, I guess) and works only 6 days a week. So, we started on our adventure (alteast for my guinea pigs a.k.a roomates, it was an adventure) !

My dish premiere was kovakkai (AP lingo : dhondakai) fry. Wow, did I bring the house down (positive connotation) !!! The folks loved it. Encouragesby public demand, I went on to make dosas. Came out well too. I am too talented !!!

My repertoire : Dal, Sabji (most vegetables), Rava/Sooji Upma, Pongal, Dosa, Omlettes, Rice Noodles/Sevai and Noodles.

Cooking your own food is a bit if a Curate's egg - your appetite does take a beating because of the kitchen heat !

Right now, am googling away for good recipies !!!

My Own Photo Blog

I have created my own Photo-blog. I have developed a recent interest in digital photography. Check out my Fancy Photons. Will try to upload photos regularly.

Most of my photos would revolve around symbolism and humour. Get your creative juices running and give the photos some Funny/creative captions.

BTW, most of the posted photos would be taken using the Kodak DX6490, which is the First Among Equals :) It comes with an optical zoom of 10X

Mani Ratnam's Nayagan in the limelight

Mani Ratnam's Nayagan has is among a list of 100 all time great films compiled by the Time magazine. They have showered praises on the movie and even claim that Hollywood directors watching this movie would turn green with envy.

Satyajit Ray's Apu Trilogy and Guru Dutt's classic 'Pyasa' are also among the 100.

Kudos to our Mani !!!

A programme on The Da Vinci Code

For folks who have become ardent fans of Dan Brown post The Da Vinci Code, there is a programme to be aired on Sunday night (IST) on Disovery channel

An extract from the Discovery website ..

DAVINCI CODE: CRACKED! (May 21, 9 pm)
This episode puts one of history’s greatest conspiracy theories to the test. The theory suggests that Jesus Christ had a child with Mary Magdalene and this child survived and gave rise to a Royal French dynasty. This alternative view of world history would destroy the Catholic Church, so these descendants have remained underground, protected by a secret society called the Priory of Sion – a society that also holds the proof of Christ's bloodline in the form of the Holy Grail. But are these explosive claims true, or are they the theories of charlatans and pranksters? This episode attempts to shed light on this murky subject. Historical and art historical analysis, biblical exegesis, symbology, genealogy and cryptography will be used to reveal the facts behind the fiction.

DVD Collection

I was one of those guys who considers MP3 a Godsend, especially the ones available over the internet for free. But DVDs were of a different feather. I started my DVD collection recently and decided that I would get all my favorite movies/sitcoms for my DVD collection.

Currently, my collection includes the Complete series of F.R.I.E.N.D.S and Jerry McGuire. Am planning to buy most of Kamal Hassan's works of art. I guess the only Rajini movue worth a thought is Dalapathi (..dont even get me started on Bollywood movies).

I had always wanted to buy the complete FRIENDS series, but shelved off the thought citing tight purse strings, but then I finally shrugged off that line of thought. These DVDs are worth in gold .. for they will cheer me up even in the worst of times. I spent the whole of Sunday watching a couple of Seasons from FRIENDS.

Any other good movies to be recommended guys ????
