Karate Kid 3

My first day at the Dojo today. Was taught a few warm-up exercises and a few kick and punch moves. Was totally enervated and famished at the end of it. My stamina level is deep down south , the instuctor (oops ! ... sensei is how he is addressed in Karate parlance) tells me. I was consorted by my roomie. True, we looked like bulls in a China shop. Hope we get better by the day.

There was also this interesting Japanese Counting in Karate.

The number that I like the most in Japanese is 10 (Ju) coz that is the count at which we are allowed to rest after each kick/punch exercise. I just love it to hear 'Ju' from Sensei. In the last set, I gave up before the Sensei reaches 6 (Roku) !!

Wonder Years

Itz Diwali time again and I am filled with a nostalgic feeling of those Wonder Years from my past. Diwali meant holidays , sweets, family gatherings, crackers (my folks still think I am a sissy when it comes to crackers) and new dresses. Dad and Mom used to take my brother and me to the "readymade showrooms". The one that still strikes a chord is the Jack and Jill showroom in R.S.Puram. Dad used to get identical clothes for my brother and me. We would then have dinner at some restaurant (I used to call it 'hotel' until I came across the word 'restaurant' when I was in my 10th grade : 0) ).
I can't but wonder at the degree of change. Diwali today means runing from pillar to post for the train ticket, an excuse for shopping, watching TV and a family gathering (Thank God, that still holds !!).

Family ties

I got a call from my grandpa today. He warmly consoled me and told me that things would materialize for me since I was a very good and talented person. My grandma shared the same thoughts. All this happened coz .................. dad had told them that i was upset due to the cancellation of my scheduled business trip to the US.

Upset I was not !! But i was touched by the care that my grandparents had shown by caring to call up for such a small thing (it does seem miniscule compared to the ernomity of love in my family). Family is family... no1 to replace them !!!!
